A Rant

I'm 8 weeks and 1 day today. The 2 month mark. These last couple weeks have been tough in a bunch of ways. On one hand, the 'good' news is that I've been feeling like ass. Nauseous and T-I-R-E-D. My appetite has been totally out of wack. I puked my guts out last Friday night. The spinach salads I was living on before I became pregnant don't appeal to me in the least these days, which sucks because that is the type of food the baby needs right now. As I read sentences like "babies eyes, ears and mouth are forming' and 'this time is crucial for babies brain and nerves to form' I worry that my diet is lacking the building blocks this baby needs right now. I read somewhere that the baby takes what it needs from my body, and I'm the one left short handed if anything is lacking. I hope that's true. A couple days after the puking session, I experienced the migraine from HELL. I laid in bed for an hour with an ice pack on my neck, until Warren found me crying in pain. He quickly went to Dr. Google to research ways he could help me cure my migraine 'naturally', and again he demonstrated what a lovely person he truly is. He walked into the room and said (sounding like a doctor) "Well, what's happening to you is very normal. It's probably caused by all the extra blood flowing through your body, or maybe dehydration. It's recommended you try to get more exercise". He realised quickly by the scowl on my face that none of this information was helpful to me in this moment. So he offered up some more useful information. 'I can give you a message, and I'll get the radio to play you some nice music'.

None of this relieved my migraine, but it did make me feel better, on the inside. I love you, Warren.

5 On Friday: November 21st, 2008

1. Warren & I have been together for 7 years, and that was really evident a few days ago. I was ready for bed, all decked out in my over sized sweats. My lower back was sore, so I heated up my 'bean bag' pad in the microwave and shoved the warm bean bag down the butt of my pants, with the elastic kind of holding it in place. Not once did it even occur to me to look in a mirror to witness the hideous silhouette I was creating on my body. That's true love right there, folks. Warren was in bed and lifted the covers for me to crawl in, and I crawled in backwards, going in for the 'spoon' position. Then I hear Warren whisper under his breath "oh, thank-god".

Amanda: What?

Warren:  Nothing.

Amanda: But you said 'thank god'?

Warren: Oh, I just saw your deformed lumpy butt and it freaked me out for a second. Then I realised it was your heating pad.

I wonder if this is what he imagined when he married the woman of his dreams?

2. Last night was the Best. Survivor. Vote. EVER.

3. I'm thinking of getting my engagement & wedding ring melded together on the bottom because I'm always adjusting them and straightening them. But, I'm nervous about getting it done for some reason. Has anyone else done that with theirs?

4. Does it make me lame that my idea of a great Friday night is a date with my PVR, my favorite blogs and some sliced apple with cheddar cheese?

5. All our dog training went down the tubes after our trip to Invermere. I have a very strong suspicion that Warren's dad let them on the bed while we were away. But, the dogs know the Pack Leader's are back in the house - so look out!

Changing Places

Warren & I have had interesting career paths. I went to Film school, he went to TV school. I got a job in TV, he got a job in Film. Then he changed careers and became a Realtor, while I took a TV job that enabled me to work with many of his old Film buddies. My job in TV has morphed from an Editor to a Producer. Now, Warren is the Editor.

BEHOLD. Warren's first movie:

5 On Friday: November 14th, 2008

1. Tomorrow morning Warren & I leave for a little getaway to Invermere. We're staying at a client's place (for free!) and dragging our friends Rob & Tiff with us. The days will be spent just enjoying the cute little mountain town, and the evenings will be spent playing Wii and Monopoly. Ahhhh....I can't wait. I need this SO BAD.

2. Our couches STILL haven't arrived. It's been 9 weeks now, when we were told it would be 4-6. And they're not even fancy couches. They're like, one or two steps up from Ikea furniture and they're made in Winnipeg. I keep having visions of them arriving, only to discover they came in the wrong fabric or the wrong style.

3. Is anyone else getting tired of all their friends on Facebook asking them to vote for their baby for the Vibe 98.5's Cutest Baby Contest?

4. My little sister turns 6 on Tuesday, and she asked for an Easy Bake Oven. I wasn't sure they still made them, so I checked out Toy R Us dot com, and turns out they DO still make them, but they look more like a toaster oven than a traditional oven. LAME! She also asked for 'some dress up clothes that don't itch'. How cute is that?

5. Question - do you ever get 'house envy'? As in, you visit a friend's house, then come home to yours and feel a bit down because it seems your house just doesn't compare or lacks luxuries that your friend's house did? Well this happened to me when I went to a friend's house warming party - her & her family just built a nice new home way in the south of Calgary. So I asked myself, honestly - if I was offered the chance would I trade homes with her? And the honest answer is no. UNLESS I could transplant her house to my current location, and transplant my Pub Basement into her basement. Then I might consider it :-)

Always The First To Know

I had another Ortho appointment on Monday, firstly to get some teeth shaved with a mini little chain-saw type tool that the dentist actually referred to as 'dangerous', and secondly to get 6 more weeks worth of invisilign trays. Aside from the dusty tooth particles flying out of my mouth from said shaving tool, the appointment was going well. Until she noticed some 'decay'. Yes, apparently one of my molars had a big, fat cavity. This was shocking since just 2 weeks earlier I'd gone for my 4 month cleaning & check-up at with my regular dentist. My regular dentist who didn't notice the giant cavity. I asked her if it was possible that the cavity had formed within the last couple of weeks. She was very doubtful and said 'but it's really bad news for your teeth if it did'. Turns out Invisilign trays can increase my chances of cavities if I don't brush my teeth after EVERY time I eat. After every latte, every snack, every mandarin orange...even at work. So I guess I have to become that anal retentive dork who brushes her teeth at work.

The appointment was over and we were booking the appointment for the filling.

Dr. Davids asked "Did your other dentist take xrays at your check-up? Because I'd like to check that tooth. I'm worried there could be more going on under the surface".

So, for the second time, I had to tell my dentist I was pregnant.

Amanda: "No, he didn't, because I'm in the early stages of pregnancy". (notice I didn't say 'I'm pregnant'.) Last time, in the summer, the dental assistant at my other dentist's office had asked 'Are there medical conditions that we should know about?". So of course I told her then, too. My mom actually had to call the receptionist later to tell her what happened.

Dr. Davids: Oh! Congrats! How far along are you?

Amanda: Just about 6 weeks.

Dr. Davids: Have you told your family yet?

Amanda: "Nope, not yet". I wanted so desperately to tell her what had happened before, and that we're being cautiously optimistic, but that we knew things could still go wrong. I felt this urge to provide a caveat to the whole thing. But of course, I didn't.

It's odd that in both cases, my dentists were among the very first people to know.

5 On Friday: November 7th, 2008

1. I've been getting flack from a few friends because ever since I started 5 on Friday, I only update on Fridays. For the avid blog reader, there is nothing more annoying than checking a blog day in / day out, only to find the same damn entry you saw the day before and the before that. Alexa, over at Flotsam, has committed to daily blogging for the month of November. I considered this for a split second, but who am I kidding. My life has very little drama, I have no kids to talk about, and I get easily frustrated with slow photo uploads. Maybe I'll make it a New Year's resolution and do it in January. We'll see.

2. Is anyone else watching the Tudors? I love this show, but thank God everyday I wasn't born back then! And, it makes me wonder, without any prenatal care and folic acid pills, how did any baby survive?

3. I don't know if it's the early Christmas displays or Christmas advertising, but I really want to put up our tree and decorations early this year. Like, the second week in November. Sadly though, we still have no living room furniture or window coverings, and my dad as yet to finish our fireplace...and a fireplace is key to a British Pub Christmas!

4. Speaking of Christmas, I'd like to do as much online shopping as possible this year, and for everything else I'd really like to go the 'boutique' districts like 4th Street, 17th & Kensington. I'm so sick of malls and I find they just suck the spirit out of the holidays.Christmas is usually a stressful time of year for me (Warren will testify to this), and I'd like to find ways to make it not so.

5. I know Halloween is over and it's lame to post photos so late, but my mom really wants to see more Amy Winehouse photos. So, #5 is a shout out to my mom. These were photos taken at the office:

Our Department Group Shot: You may notice June Carter Cash, Johnny cash, Kriss Kross, Michael Jackson, Biork in the Swan Dress, Elton John, Devo, Marilyn Manson, and beside Amy on the floor - the lovely 80's Madonna.

Here We Go Again

My car was in the shop, so Warren picked me up from work to drive me to my first doctor's appointment. This was the morning after the big American election, and sitting on the passenger's seat when I hopped in the car was a Calgary Herald with Barrack's smiling face on the front. Warren smiled shyly and said "I thought it would be nice for the baby's memory box...you know...what was going on in the world the year he/she was born". Wow. What a guy.

Clearly Warren is handling this second go around better than myself, and it couldn't have been more evident than when I sat down to talk with my doctor.

Joan: So, what's going on? (she says this as if her office assistant gave her zero indication of what the appointment was for).

Amanda: (looks shyly to ground, sits) Well, I got another positive pregnancy test.

Joan: (laughs a little) Uh huh. I hear a little hesitation in your voice...

Amanda: Well...

Joan: (interrupts)...because most women would come in and say.... (gestures to Amanda)...

Amanda: ...I'm pregnant.

Joan: Right!

It's true - this time around I have been extremely hesitant. It doesn't help that I feel almost no symptoms. Sure, I'm just over 5 weeks, but I was really hoping this time would be substantially different. But I feel empty inside, like nothing is there. And, what's worse, is I feel horrible even saying that because clearly I'm not empty inside. Logically, there are indeed the sprouts of a little human being there somewhere and what horrible disservice am I paying the first moments of this human's life by feeling nothing. It breaks my heart that the innocence and naivete that should come with these early weeks is completely absent.

Of course I'm trying really hard to be positive and think positive, and I know I couldn't do it without Warren. His hugs, his belly pats, the twinkle of excitement in his eyes.

Sweet little baby, I pray we get to meet you.

Dips and Spikes

After a hard, tiring, stressful few days at work, I woke up on Wednesday morning after the worst night sleep I'd had in a long time. Aunt Flo was due around that day, so when I popped the thermometer in my mouth that morning I wasn't surprised to see my temperature dip down dramatically. (For anyone who doesn't know...recording your temperature every morning can help you chart your most fertile days when trying for a baby).

Frack. I'm not pregnant. What a perfect way to end a perfectly crappy few days.

I suffered through another day at work, which was a bit better than the days previous. Thursday morning rolled around (after a much better sleep), and this time my temperature spiked UP dramatically. I hopped on google and quickly learned that stress and poor sleep can affect your basal body temperature. So I decided I would use the one left over pregnancy test I had right there and then. If it came up negative I new Aunt Flo would be coming that day, and if was positive, well, that would be nice.

With Warren still fast asleep I peed on the stick. 10 seconds in, two clear pink lines appeared.

My heart fluttered and for a brief second, I was light as air.

I placed the test strategically in front of the bathroom sink so that Warren would see it when he woke up. But by the time I was supposed to leave he still hadn't gone into the bathroom. So I snatched it up and walked up to him at the computer and said "Well Hon, it's a good thing I resisted that wine last night" and he looked up at me, "Why? I stretched out my hand with the pregnancy test and said "Because I'm pregnant again".

I knew this time would be different, and it was. Warren kissed me and said "Well, let's keep an eye on it and see how it goes".

5 on Friday: October 31st, 2008

1. Tomorrow is November 1st? Really? Less than 2 months until Christmas? REALLY? Someone please tell me where October went....

2. Here's a photo of my brother James as an Astronaut, and my sister Kayley as a Ninja:

3. Here's a photo of my brother Adam as a half-assed ridiculous Eeyore...his costume is made up of a 2-year old's costume from Walmart that he cut on the sides and put on his head. I had tears in my eyes I was laughing so hard! Oh Adam....

4. Sadly I forgot my camera this morning, so the only photos I have of my Amy Winehouse impersonation are photos I took at my dads, at the end of the day when my eye makeup had worn off. If anyone at work got some good ones I'll post more next week. I walked around all day with a smoke in my mouth, my red bra strap hanging out (classy!) and a bottle of rum in my hand. Fun!

5. Now, if you'll excuse me, I have 3 hours of brushing the back-combing out of my hair ahead of me...wish me luck.

6 On Satruday: October 25th, 2008

I had one of those 'holy crap, is it Friday already?' moments, so I appologize for the late post.

1. I've had one of those weeks that brings me to the brink of sanity. You'd think that by now I could do my job with my eyes closed, but the nature of this business seems to be a road block for that to happen. In the midst of my many miny meltdowns I found out one of my bosses has had to put her beloved dog down, and then I read THIS. It put things in perspective for me for sure.

2. Because I struggled this week to overcome the stress I was under, I want to ask: What do you do to relieve stress and 'centre' yourself? These are the types of things I do:

  • Lean on my husband more than usual.

  • Actually create an evening schedule for myself, that includes some sort of exercise and relaxing time.

  • For me, relaxing time usually means watching TV.

  • Drink tea.

  • Put on super comfy PJs.

  • Make lists.

I look forward to hearing what others do!

3. Before the 'global economic crisis' Warren was trying to convince me that we should get 2 new laptops for ourselves. He had his eye on a Macbook. With so much uncertainty in the air, we of course, like everyone, are searching for ways to scale back our consumer driven lives. So, my uber resourceful husband lugged out his old, dicrepid laptop, cleared it off, defragged, and with a lot of futzing around was able to get it up & running. Thanks to his efforts, this blog post is being broadcast live via wireless internet from this Sir Angus Pub (aka our basement). Thanks Hon!

4. I have become obsessed with the 'Dog Whisperer - Ceasar Millan' show. We finally have our second dog training session tomorrow (it's actually more like a 'human' training session...), but since I've been watching so much Dog Whisperer, I feel like we don't need more training!

5. Today I was at Chapters and when I walked in I was handed a 10% off coupon for any purchase over $35. Perfect, the book I wanted to buy was $34.95. Got up to the till, and SORRY. 5 cents short. No discount for you!

6. Just got a call from Warren -he needs me to bring him some open house signs. Gotta go!

Dubya

We seem to be in a ridiculous mood this evening. Must have been the Basa.

Married To A Fish

I was cooking dinner tonight, Basa with cheesy rice and salad, and this was the ridiculous conversation that ensued:

Warren: Mmmm, Basa. We should definitely try and eat more fish.

Amanda: I love Fish! Love, love, LOVE...fish.

Warren: Well why don't you marry it?

Amanda: Hmph. Maybe I will. I'll become a bigomist or a polygamist or...is there even a word for someone who has more than one husband?

Warren: I think there should be a word for someone who's married to a fish!

5 On Friday: October 17th, 2008

Every once in a while I feel like I want to take a 'pass' on my 5 on Friday post, but then I think about how disappointed I'd be if someone else did the same. So, I'll push on...

1. Our fears and dreads were never realised, and we successfully hosted 14 people for Thanksgiving dinner. Our plans to fail miserably so that we were never asked again were foiled when everyone sat down and said "This is fabulous! I vote Amanda and Warren do this again next year!". Maybe this gave us the confidence to attempt hosting Ukrainian Christmas this January - anyone out there interested in a perogy making party?

2. Last weekend I found two Bay Gift Certificates that were gifts from our wedding 2 years ago. Two certificates for $100 each. Being in the mood for some retail therapy, Warren & I headed to the mall with $100 bucks each to spend on whatever we want.

We met up 45 minutes later. I returned empty handed, and Warren showed up with a little bag. I expected him to pick up some work shirts or new jeans, neither of which would fit into such a little bag. He proudly pulled out his purchase.

It was a kit called the 'DNA Ancestry Project'. The kit contained everything he needed to collect a DNA sample to be sent to the 'Genebase' laboratory. Once received, this laboratory will analyze his DNA and he'll be able to log on to their website and track his Paternal ancestry results, as well as become a part of the DNA Ancestry project.

I hope we discover that he is a descendant of Kings - because I look damn good in a tiara, and I've been practicing the lines 'Off with his head!' and 'Let them eat cake!'.

3. The drape lady came by this week, and my dear husband was a trooper. 1 hour and 15 minutes worth of looking at fabric samples, holding them up against the window and saying things like 'Yes, that one really picks up the yellow...', and 'I hate the sheen, but I love the pattern!'.

My favorite moment was when the drape lady called Warren a Metrosexual and then admitted she had only heard that word for the first time the week previous and was delighted that she was able to use it in conversation.

4. Dissapointments of the week (in no particular order): Our couches still haven't arrived, the dog trainer never showed up on Saturday, our Pub light that fell & broke will be $160 dollars to replace and will take 6-8 weeks to arrive, the real estate market is slowing, and I only earned 6 points in the Survivor: Gabon Office Pool (yes, I still watch Survivor).

5. For any of you who guessed that I got my braces a week early last week - you were right! They are truly invisible. Not a single person has noticed them, without me pointing them out first.

I Tried

I promise I did. I tried.

But Blogger crashed on me.

I'll try again later, with a fresh wave of patience, to post photos from our trip to the Kootenays.

For now, sit back and enjoy my new blog header...

5 On Friday: October 10th, 2008

1) Look at these babes. Thank God they're cute. It makes up for the majority of the time when they're complete jackasses.

2) The other night I was reading 'from here through maternity', you know, for fun, (yup - I sure know how to party!) and I laughed at some of the things the writers of this book felt needed to be included. Like this important tidbit of advice..."Do not bite or chew on your baby's finger nails". Thank goodness it mentioned that to new mothers, because surely that would be irresistible had they not been warned of the risk of infection!

3) I have Monday off, and Warren doesn't, so my plan is to catch up on some blogging (post more photos from our Europe trip BACK IN APRIL as well as our Kooteney Park Lodge trip), THEN I want to go shop for a nice long cozy sweater and some leggings...mmmm....YES.

4) For Halloween I am dressing up as Amy Winehouse (everyone in our department at work is dressing as a 'rock star'). These photos will be my inspiration. Unfortunately I won't be able to develop the anorexic skeletal physique in time, but I think I will have a tank top made that says 'I'm not goin' to rehab...no, no, no...".

5) Here's a photo Warren took of me today. Notice anything....different?

A Letter From My Uterus

Dear 'Management',

Look, Lady.

We don't know who it is you think you are, but prancing around writing non-sensical letters to an imaginary union working inside your uterus is an indication of borderline dementia, wouldn't ya say?

Let's just imagine for a moment that we were willing to go along with this ridiculous notion, we would certainly point out the less-than-ideal working conditions in here. It's pitch black for God's Sake. You try doing your job when you can't see your computer screen or the numbers on the phone - never mind locating & accommodating a microscopic mass of cells.

We'd also certainly point out the lack of gratitude you have demonstrated for the years of dedicated service we've provided to this point. Until recently, Project Baby Bump had been strictly prohibited, and myself and my fellow workers have delivered exceptional results. Then suddenly you decide on a whim that no, Project BB is a good idea, and you expect that we switch gears on a dime. This is unrealistic and naive on your part.

However, we do want to pass on our heartfelt sympathies for the failure and subsequent losses that were experienced in June. We understand that such painful times would cause you to play the blame game and crack the whip. The reality is, however, that there is no union inside your uterus. There is no one to blame.

We hope that by writing that letter you were merely trying to express your anxiety in a satirical way, for your own journaling purposes. If this is not the case, then we suggest you seek help. NOW.

Cheers,
The non-existant union inside your uterus

5 On Friday: October 3, 2008

1) Warren & I are carrying a big dresser from the basement, up the stairs, through the hallway, to the spare room. The dresser is quite large and cumbersome to carry. I'm struggling, and all Warren can see of me is the top of my head bobbing up and down at the other end of the dresser and I fumble to get a better grip (we're holding it from the bottom). I stretch my neck up so I can see him over the top of the dresser. He starts laughing. 'You look like Leonardo DiCaprio in Titanic in the end scene when he's drowning!' Then he proceeds to mimic me, causing me to laugh and almost drop the dresser on myself. The places his mind goes never cease to amaze me.

2) No one has noticed that I stopped wearing my nose ring.

3) Braces update: I'm 2 weeks away from getting my invisilign braces, and I just found out I get free bleaching when it's all done, and, the process will likely take less than a year. Hola!

4) We've been asked (told) to host Thanksgiving at our house. We still have no living room furniture and no window coverings. This will be fun! We're secretly hoping that it's such a disaster that we're never asked again :-) Are we bad people?

5) This spot brought to you by 'Awkward Moments on Calgary Transit'.

I have many pet peeves about taking the bus to work. This week there have been some gems.

Pet Peeve #1: Rude Bus Drivers

Most people who ride Calgary Transit know that bus drivers are only supposed to pick people up at designated stops. It's a safety issue more than anything. But, that doesn't stop tardy commuters from chasing down a bus and waving for the driver to stop and pick them up between stops. This morning the bus driver stopped for a young girl, probably a student, and then proceeded to lecture her in a very stern 'angry parent' voice and say things like 'don't let this happen again!'. My pet peeve here is that, if he's going to break his own rules to let her on, DON'T publicly scorn her for it. YOU'RE THE ONE WHO BROKE THE RULE. All she did was ask you to.

Pet Peeve #2: Loud Talkers (who also happen to be morons)

I was sitting by a window, and a guy and a girl were standing in the isle a few steps behind me, talking very loudly so everyone on the bus could hear their conversation. There were 2 pregnant women sitting in close proximity to me. The conversation went something like this:

Girl: Did you know so-and-so is back from mat leave tomorrow? I hear she's already pregnant again! She's like, already showing, so she'll be back for like, 2 months or something!

Guy: That's so brutal! Why do they hire people like that? You know, people who, like, you know, get pregnant every 3 months or whatever? That's crap. Is she the old one?

Girl: Uhh...well, no. She's like, 35.

Guy: Ya, that's old! When I'm 30 you can call me old too.

Pet Peeve #3: Awful Parents Who Publicly Parent Awfully.

Behind me I hear a 'thud' as the person behind me drops something. I hear a little girl's voice say 'uh-oh'.

Woman: What? What did you do? What did you drop?

Little girl: My wallet...

Woman: Where? Where did it go?

Then she pops out from behind me and reaches under my seat to retrieve the dropped wallet.

Woman: Take this, stupid child! Put it in your bag!

5 On Friday, September 26, 2008

1. My nose ring fell out recently - lost it - so I decided not to replace it, and live my life sans nose ring.

What? You didn't know I had a nose ring? My point exactly. It was so small that even people I see everyday would suddenly say 'oh - since when have you had a nose ring?' I've had it since I was 17.

So, no fan fare or ceremonial good buy to my teen angst. I'm moving on. It's odd though - I always imagined myself as an old gramma with a nose ring (so this is probably for the best).

2. You may remember that Warren & I purchased a Digital SLR camera, and I think I had mentioned that we got the idea from Kal's blog, because when so many people asked her how she took such beautiful pictures, she posted the name of the camera she uses. So we went out and bought that camera purely on the recommendation of this woman neither of us had ever met.

Last week we purchased our second 'Kal' item. The designer dog beds she's written about several times. Turns out the local pet store we shop at is one of the distributors. River & Porter LOVE their new beds. They look completely heart-meltingly adorable when they're curled up inside them, and the beds look stylish and modern in our newly transformed bedroom. Warren thought it was ridiculous to buy 'designer' dog beds, but he has since eaten his words :-)

That girl has good taste.

(you may be thinking "those don't look stylish, they look like dog beds", but trust me - compared to old stained pillows and blankets, these are stylish).

3. Warren & I are on a Ricky Gervais kick. It all began with the British Office, then Extras, and the addiction went into high-gear after our Kootenay Park Lodge trip (Oh - I still need to post about that!!) when we listened to Season #1 of the Ricky Gervais Podcast in the car. It's HILARIOUS. If you're tired of your current iPod playlist, I highly recommend downloading this gem. It's the most downloaded Podcast EVER.

Ricky Gervais is...The Podfather.

5. Ricky's new movie is out in theatres - GHOST TOWN. Hopefully I can post a review after the weekend.

4. I am so tired. I just spent 2 hours with the blinds & drapes guy, and blogging is chore right now.

5 On Friday: September 19th, 2008 *UPDATED*

1. House Before & Afters

2. I didn't complain when many of the blogs I read obsessively decided to go private. They have kids. Their posts are intended to entertain family members. I get it. Even though I read many other 'parent' blogs that aren't private, I understand everyone has different comfort levels when it comes to these things.

Yesterday I noticed Blogger added a new feature, where I can get post updates from all the blogs I read, sent directly to my Blogger Dashboard. One stop shop for all my Bloggy Goodness. Similar to the 'subscriptions' service that Xanga had. But, this feature doesn't work on protected blogs. Curses!

Just when I was learning to live with the whole 'log in' process (which is ALWAYS worth it because you're all such fabulous bloggers!), I get dealt this new annoyance. Boo. on. you. Blogger.

3. Kal over at [i]lovelife, is pregnant with her second child. I discovered her blog when Keri linked to it from her blog. I've never met Kal, and I've never commented on her blog. There is a name for people like me. I'm a 'Lurker'. So, she has no idea I exist or that I occasionally write about her on my blog. Which is totally creepy. Anyways...what she doesn't know can't hurt her...so moving on...

Kal named her first born daughter 'Pilot'. Such a unique name inspired me to read back in Kal's blog, to learn more about this artistic lady. Turns out, prior to her daughter's birth, she had made several references to the word 'Pilot'. The most obvious reference being the necklace she wore that said 'love is my pilot'. So, when she announced she is preggers with baby2, I decided I would scrutinize her posts in an attempt to locate clues to baby2's name.

Lately, she has been infatuated with the '&' symbol. Ampersand. At first, Ampersand seems like an odd name for a baby. But, upon further analysis you'll discover it's quite catching.

Andy for short if it's a boy. (ampersANDY)

Sandy for short if it's a girl. (amperSANDY)

I know. I'm a genius. I've got Mad Code Cracking Skillz.

4. Presley the Boxer won the title of "Greatest American Dog"! (This is actually old news, but I PVR'd the finale and didn't watch it until last night).

5. I woke up Thursday morning, convinced that it was Saturday.

At 6:35am I hopped out of bed to feed the dogs, feeling light as air, without an ounce of grumpiness, because I *knew* I'd be able to crawl back into bed and sleep for another couple hours.

Warren found this odd, because normally on a work day I would hold-out until he caved in and got up to feed the dogs. He also found it odd that I came back to bed, instead of staying up to get ready for work. But he didn't say anything.

Then I made a comment about how I hope the Dumpster guys don't show up too early (we have a dumpster being dropped off on Saturday morning so we can get rid of all our old carpet and other junk we want to purge). Again, Warren said nothing.

A few minutes later I started laughing and said 'Gawd I'm an idiot! I didn't need to save those leftovers last night!' Wednesday night we had gone to Open Sesame for dinner, and I had my leftovers boxed up so I could take them to work for lunch the next day. But in my 'Saturday' brain, I was convinced that had been unnecessary because I wasn't going to work today, and didn't need a boxed lunch.

"Why not?" Warren asked.

"Because I don't work today!" I blurted out.

"You're not going to work today?" he asked.

"No... it's... Saturday" I responded, slowly, as my mind raced to figure out why he would ask me that.

"Uh, no it's not. It's Thursday".

I could have cried.

Seriously, do I have Alzheimer's?

This post reveals something else about me too.

Who else, at 6:35am in the morning, is thinking about leftovers and what they're having for lunch?

I'm weird.
