Craving A Change.

Maybe it's just because my layers & bangs are all grown out and wonky, and I'm in desperate need of a tidy up in the hair department, but lately I am craving a change in hairstyle. I've had long, layered hair for probably 15 years, that I curl with hot rollers. I don't want to go too short, because I would have a nervous breakdown, and I want it to be easy to grow long again if I want to.

I googled 'medium length hairstyles' and these were the ones I liked:

1)

2)

3)

4)

5)

6)

If I do go ahead with a change, I want to be able to take a picture with me to the hairdresser. The problem with these pics is that all these women have had their hair styled by professionals and it's hard to tell which ones I could easily do myself. There is one in particular I'm leaning towards. Please tell me your fave (for me) in the comments & why. Also, vote in the poll on the right!

(PS - this is all for FUN, and I make no commitment to actually going ahead with any of these!)

ooooh! how fun.
i refuse to vote because i never take money advice from broke people, or fitness/diet advice from people fatter than me.

therefore, you should not take hair advice from me.

but hopefully Theresa will vote! :0)

I voted before I read Erin's comment. Now I'm thinking perhaps I should not have voted either. Anyway, They are all good choices, and I am totally going to steal one (that you don't choose) for me!

Thanks a lot, erin! Now everyone is going to read your comment, and think they are not qualified to vote. Sheesh.

People, you are all entitled to an opinion, regardless of what your hair looks like!

My first choice is #2...and my second choice is #6. Regardless of which one you choose, I hope you are braver than me and do it!! You have great hair and will look great with any hairstyle...truly. (I also hope you tell us which your fave is, even if you don't change a thing...)

I'm torn between 3 and 6. If you want to keep up with the hot rollers, then 6 might be the way to go. If you want something a bit easier, then 3 would be nice although you'd need bang upkeep. Either way, you could pull off any of these styles...

Oh you KNOW I'm sounding off on this one.

1. FAB! But WAY too much work on a daily styling basis - though you would be able to accomplish it wonderfully with the straightening curler technique. If only you could do it for one night, sadly that is not the reality of hair.

2. Too round and circular. Me no likey and frankly, even more work than 1 and my gut tells me it looks terrible blown out - which, let us be honest, as a mom to a toddler isn't so much a reality of being blown out, but rather slept on for 3 days straight without a wash. Not good.

3. I'm not sure if it's just because I loathe Jessica Alba with every fibre of my being or what but this is an awful look. I do not like the bangs whatsoever and I feel it's too one dimensional.

4. Bangs FEROCIOUS! The pixie flip though? Bad. Très 90s. Plus, this appears to be a razor cut which I would not recommend for your hair being that it seems to have curl. Also, it seems a bit too short. Something bout it is boyish. However, I say if you do do bangs, these are a MUST!

5. This woman can do no wrong. I feel that this is a great style for you. Only I feel that she has not got the same amount or type of hair as you so while she's relying on product to make her hair voluminous, you will not have that problem.

6. Okay so in my mind this is clearly the one you must be drawn to most since it is easily attained with the hot rollerage - which you know I too am a big fan of. I feel that this is really the best of both 4's most excellent bang and 5's most excellent length and layers mixed with quite obviously the fullness of your actual wonderous head of hair.

In short, actually, in long, 6 all the way!

I can't decide. Your hair is too fabulous for me to contemplate changing. : )

Maybe you should try wearing it straight as a change? That takes just about as much work.

Aside from that, the length of one is nice, but your hair would need a lot of thinning, and I don't think you'd still end up using the hot rollers, so that's something to keep in mind depending on how short and thin you go.

Six is definitely you - except the colour is bit off. Six is best because it still has the wave thing happening (is it obvious that I'm from the sixties?) - but its different enough to feel and look like a change. So go for it - a little change is a good thing - besides its only hair - it grows back - oops! - well it will on you - probably - OK I'm going to shut up now. I still think you should do it - it'll be OK - it'll be fun you'll see - take it from me I change my hair all the time - it's great!
